The ultimate hands-free leash can be used 8 ways:
- regular leash (63" or 5'3")
- crossbody leash (50-52" crossbody loop)
- hip/waistworn leash (adjustable hip loop)
- dual leash - clipped to the collar and harness/secondary collar, or a second dog
- shortened 40" leash
- shortened 50" leash
- temporary tether to an object
- held by traffic handle for shorter control, while waist-worn or crossbody or regular
These sizes are based on the 63" leash (5'3" while using with regular handle) which we determined to be an ideal combination of leash sizes. When adding 1-3 ft of length, the crossbody section will be adjusted to 56" (unless otherwise indicated). And the remaining length will be added between the crossbody section and handle. Additional leash length is $2 per foot.
This leash is handmade with solid brass hardware and authentic BioThane. This is super heavy BioThane for a softer hand feel, and is 5/8" width. The carabiners are aluminum.
Care: This leash is hand-washable in the sink with soap and water, or just water! Give it a good rinse (especially the hardware) after exposure to salt water.
The trigger snaps tend to be a good option for the beach due to the spring being internal, and it won't jam up in the sand as easily. However, if you do choose a bolt snap, and spring jams, run it under water to release the sand and open the clasp.
BioThane break strength is 1000 lbs per inch, making this width approximately 625 lbs and suitable for most dogs. For very small dogs, you might consider a lightweight option, like the rope BioThane leads, or the 1/2" width standard BioThane leash.
