Our line of fabric collars is also made with a mildew resistant webbing, however, the fabric layer does not do much to protect it from water exposure. This means that the collars will soak up water, stay wet, and inevitably, get smelly. BioThane collars require less maintenance. What is BioThane?
BioThane is a leather alternative, made of a polyester webbing core and a PVC coating. Most of the BioThane I use has a strength of 1000 lbs per inch. The rope and flexible BioThane is not as strong, coming in at 500 lbs and 600 lbs per inch respectively. It is manufactured in Ohio in the USA, and only refers to products specifically made by BioThane Coated Webbing Corp. There are a lot of dupes out there so be aware! BioThane is latex free, and they have conducted 3rd party testing in order to be CPSIA and REACH compliant. Fluorescent colors are most susceptible to color transfer, so always store your gear independently - hanging on their own hooks would be a good way to keep colors separate.

Choosing the Right Collar
BioThane collars come in many styles. I have traditional tongue buckle collars, quick release buckle collars, and slip on or martingale collars. Collars with tongue buckles or quick release buckles have adjustable sizing. Martingale and slip collars are specialty collars typically for training, or an easy on/off collar for a dog under supervision. ECO collars also come in different widths, from as narrow as 1/2" up to 1.5" width. For smaller dogs and puppies, choose a narrower width. Wider collars are heavier and take up more room on the neck, so these are best for bigger dogs, or at least those with longer necks. I can add extra growing room to my adjustable collars, so please just let me know if you are ordering for a puppy. Always measure your dog's neck size for the best fit.
